We congratulate our artist Roland Helmer on his 80th birthday
Since the 1960s Roland Helmer has been developing his constructive and concrete art with the greatest consistency. His early abstract geometrical works show clear forms, calm surfaces and are limited to a maximum of seven or eight bright colours. In his late work the variety of forms is reduced to narrow and wide lines in a vertical and horizontal structure. In his work Helmer formulates a world of colour in a canon of forms.
Helmer studied in Munich at the Academy of Fine Arts, where he himself held a professorship in the 1980s. He was a scholarship holder of the Foundation of the City of Munich, holder of the advancement award of Bavaria and received twice the art prize of Fürstenfeldbruck. Works by Helmer can be found in collections such as the Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin, the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus Munich, the Daimler Chrysler Collection, the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlung and the Musée du Château in Montbéliard, France.
Recently we presented Roland Helmer in February at the art Karlsruhe. In our gallery in the Reichenbachstraße in Munich we gladly show you further works of this amazing artist.
