The painter HENNING VON GIERKE has had a studio on Santa Maria/Azores for four years and paints there the wild and untouched nature of the island in addition to his themes such as religion, people and gods. Now the artist shows his work in the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Azores in Vila de Porto, built by the European Union.
The Azorean poet Daniel Gonçalves accompanies the exhibition with his spontaneous poetic questions. For each painting a three-line question was created - this gives a new horizon to the paintings and sculptures of Hv Gierke and integrates the perception of a poet on the work of Henning von Gierke.
The exhibition in Santa Maria is open from June 25 to September 30 and will then be shown on the island of Faial in the town of Horta.
