Owusu-Ankomah was born in Ghana and is known today to be one of the most important artists for contemporary painting of African origin. Typically his paintings depict athletic human figures being intertwined with Afrikan Adinkra-symbols which refer to the artist's cultural roots. Owusu-Ankomah's works are inspiried by a deep spirituality which is brought to a new level by the symbol of “Microcron”. This symbol - a circle formed by circles - symbolizes the harmonious unity of mankind, nature and cosmos.
